It’s the new year, there are lots of presentations to be given and I’ve received lots of questions on how to appear confident and relaxed on stage.

Here are a few suggestions to #OwnTheStage.

✅Own the SPACE:
If possible, get to the venue early and imagine owning it. Walk the length of the stage and check out the size of the room. Think about how much you can increase your volume, dial up your facial expression, or gestures to match the size of the room and audience.

✅Good PREPARATION can help ease nerves:
Let’s not wing it. Do set aside time to organise your thoughts, and determine the flow of your presentation. Practice the opening and test out your tone. This will set the stage for everything that follows.

✅MANAGE your nerves along the way:
If you trip up during your presentation, take a deep breath and keep going. The audience is not expecting you to fail! How you recover from a misstep, and continue, will stick in the minds of your viewers.

And of course, do take time to REFLECT on how your presentation went and ask for constructive feedback after. Good luck!
