“How can I CONNECT with my audience once I get on stage?”

Probably the most popular question at my public speaking coaching sessions.

I like to use the 3Cs in this scenario.

✅CONFIDENCE

I’m sure you’ve heard this many times – ‘confidence is key’. As a presenter/ moderator, that is an important trait for me to embrace.

When a speaker is confident, it can make them more engaging and charismatic —integral qualities for someone under the spotlight.

Confident speakers use body language, voice projection and eye contact to emphasize a point ➡️ creating a sense of authority, captivating an audience.

It’s hard to pay attention to a speaker who can’t convey competence. If someone you’re listening to doesn’t have conviction about what they’re saying, the audience is a lot less likely to connect with them.

✅CLARITY

No one likes to be talked to in a way they don’t understand.

Our role as an effective speaker is to DROP the BIG words and jargon. Our message will resonate with the audience when they’re able to understand it.

Keep it Simple. Dont’ speak in a way that alienates your listeners.

If you can’t seem to explain your material simply and factually, it might mean you don’t understand it well enough either!

✅COHESION

When it comes to story-telling – I’m a stickler for cohesion. Do your points flow? Do your anecdotes add value? What is the impact you want to achieve at the end of telling that story?

“Less is more” ➡️ it certainly holds true when you aim to connect with your audience through a story. Be brutal about what goes into the plot, and be sure the narrative flows well from start to finish.

I hope the 3C’s are CONCISE enough for now ????
More to come!
