How can we break the gender bias across industries, at work and even at home? I’d like to give a special shoutout to these 4 outstanding business leaders who shared their erudite views on how we can make a difference in rebalancing the gender equation- Sharon Chong (partner at RHTLaw Asia). Tan WenHui (Director of Development at Hilton Asia), Dr Eric Chiam, (Founder of MinMed) and Rachel Lim (Founder of Love, Bonito).
As part of International Women’s Day, local homegrown leather and craft atelier, Bynd Artisan gathered these thought leaders to share their insights about what perpetuates biases across the legal, hospitality, medical and retail industries. In a 38 minute discussion, they each shared personal experiences with practical examples on how one can go about changing perceptions on a professional and personal level. For Sharon, it was a stark reminder that diversity, not just in gender, is important for a team and organisation to thrive. Wen Hui highlighted that equity is just as, if not more important than equality. Our male ally, Eric reminded us that equality starts at home and is as simple as doing the dishes, while Rachel reinforced her business ethos in building a community where women can be seen and heard and supported.
A really heartwarming conversation that is well worth your time – so do take a listen here and tell me what you think!
