Dialogue with Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower

For the third webinar of #MAS and #IBF‘s Growing Timber series, I had the privilege to moderate a dialogue with Dr Tan See Leng Minister for Manpower and leaders from the financial industry on the need to build a #globalisedSingaporean Workforce with international capabilities.

One way to do this is through overseas postings that can prepare Singaporeans for global and regional roles in the future; and it’s heartening to know that MAS is supporting financial institutions in doing so by enhancing various schemes.

I also also had the pleasure of moderating a discussion with 4 high-flying Singaporeans with much overseas experience, Kee Joo Wong (#HSBC), Edmund Koh (#UBS), Sherene Ban (#JPM) & Leong Sing Chiong (MAS). They shared first-hand the choices that led them to their international career paths, the challenges they overcame and how these overseas experiences and global roles have shaped their current approaches to work and life.  #Inspiring! Hopefully their sharing will encourage younger Singaporeans to embrace these opportunities abroad and chart their own career journeys.

I too, have had the chance to live and work overseas when I was in finance and those intangibles that you learn ‘out in the field’ are truly priceless.
