“It’s so tiring to do these zoom calls and meetings again!!”
I’ve been hearing lots of that in the last few days and I can totally empathise. Just as we were getting accustomed to that face to face interaction and some semblance of normalcy in our interactions, it feels like we’re back to square one, as Singapore hunkers down for phase 2 of what’s been termed ‘Heightened Alert’. #zoomfatigue is REAL.
But hey! At least there’s a safer alternative to communicating during this ‘heightened alert’ phase; we’ve done it before so we can definitely do it again.
This is certainly not the time to slack off on your virtual presentations though, as the camera amplifies boredom and disinterest. It shows on your face and more so, when your camera is turned off and there’s one less medium to communicate across and connect. .
How you continue to engage during these times is important. Don’t let zoom fatigue get the better of you. Sharing two quick tips here to keep your virtual audience interested:
1. inject more #ENERGY into your presentations. Sometimes it helps if you picture a loved one ‘listening to you’ at the opposite end of that pinhole camera.
2. Don’t forget the power of a genuine #SMILE to #connect at the very beginning of your presentation. It really helps set the mood.
