With economics professor and author, Andrew Scott

What a privilege to have met, hosted and moderated not one, but two panel discussions with renowned professor, Andrew Scott of London Business School and co-author of the #100yearlife – which truly revolutionizes the way we think about ageing and living longer, happier, more fulfilled lives.

Guys, we are going to be living for a LOT longer, so get used to it!

It was a real treat to see him bring his perspectives to life in the flesh (the economics geek in me got very excited by all those graphs!) and to engage in thought-provoking discussions with our esteemed panellists about how we should move away from a focus on chronological age to one where age is malleable. There were so many key takeaways!

Do we take that gap year that we’ve always yearned for? Take a mid-career break to try something new while we’re in our thirties, knowing we have a longer period of time to catch up with work and other interests? Think about it. I’m just glad I have this opportunity to leave a journalistic career and to take some time out to focus more on my young family.

The Longevity Agenda was recently released by the Longevity Forum and Prudential Singapore and it take a closer look at a couple of things. Over the last 60 years, life expectancy in Singapore has increased by nearly 20 years to reach 85 – one of the highest in the world. That’s an extraordinary achievement that is taken for granted and that too often leads to a conversation about the costs of an ageing society. Those costs and concerns are very real, but a deeper more fundamental set of questions need to be answered.

If we are living this much longer, then how do we – individuals, companies and governments – respond to make the most of this extra time? How do we restructure our lives to make sure that as many people as possible, live as long as possible, in as healthy and fulfilled ways as possible?

With our esteemed panellists at the Longevity Agenda Forum

So much food for thought.

The 100 Year Life is an Amazon bestseller and has been translated into 15 different languages – if you have yet to read Professor Scott’s book – you totally should- you will be mindblown! Big thanks to Prudential Singapore for leading the charge on the Longevity Agenda for Singapore – truly grateful to be a part of this! #READYFOR100
